Rameshwar Mahato comments on water conservation. He says that one of the major problem with water conservation and storage in Jharkhand is the undulating land and rocky surface. To couple with these, mindless deforestation due to industrialization has also affected the monsoon rain. He further added that people built rock damn, drains or canals, ponds and well to conserve rain water. He stressed that excessive implantation of tube-wells has affected the water table, which has gone down significantly owing to this. He mentioned that most of the industries are located beside some rivers or the other which has contaminated the river water beyond the point where they can be used for drinking purposes. He said that even bathing in those river water leaves people with skin diseases.
