TN Govt has cancelled all the gram sabha meetings which were suppose to happen on January 26th Republic day. Still you can post your requests to our cell phone radio by pressing 3. Your registered requests will be sent to Dist collector on behalf of our radio. Due to corona gram sabhas has been cancelled on May 1st, August 15th, October 2nd by Govt. In this situation gram sabha which was suppose to happen on January 26th has also been cancelled. Govt has instructed Dist collector to ensure that no gram sabha should happen.
Grievance: I am Chitra. I was working in ST company. My PF was deducted. I am unable to get it. Please help me in getting it. Reply: Chitra told she didnt get PF. We called and spoke to her. She has worked in Koolapatti, ST company. She has worked for 1.5 years. She quit the job in the year 2018. When she went to close PF, the company didnt respond properly. She has payslip but UAN number has not been mentioned. Using PF toll free number we generated UAN number. We have asked her to approach company. If they are not responding well we will ask to approach PF office.
Grievance: I am Karpagam from Yelapakkam. I worked in company. Its been 5-6 years now that I left job. Can I get PF now? Reply: Karpagam has recorded in TK radio that she didnt get PF. Following to that call we spoke to her over phone. Karpagam has worked in Lucas vests company for 3 years. After 6 months she went and asked for PF. The HR was changed so asked to come later. She was given excuses repeatedly. Then she stopped asking it from 2 years. She doesnt have payslip or ID card as proof of employment. The money was transferred in bank. We have asked her to go to company and ask again. And asked her to ask for UAN number. In case if they are not giving we will write letter from PF officer and we will take action. If they have linked adhar card we can tell her the ways to apply for PF.
I am Kalavathy from B Ramachandrapuram. Please tell me how to apply for Disability ID Card? Reply: With you ration card, adhar card, passport size photo, get a certificate from Govt orthopaedical doctor if you are physically challenged and along with you caste certificate you can submit to Dist differently abled officer. if your disability is more than 40% you can get national ID card.

I am calling from Panakatur. I have a doubt. Whether the employer will give ESI card or we have to approach them and how to use it? Reply: Under Employees State Insurance Act, 1948, many facilities has been made for medical, funding, maternity, differently abled people. In this fund, both employee and employer give their contribution. Central labour ministry decides the contribution for ESI. Employees of Companies which are registered in this scheme should fill the form and give a family photo. Every worker will be given insurance ID card. You need to register it only once. The person who has got insurance will be given temporary ID card. This is valid for 3 months. If the person continues the work he will be given permanent ID card. This ID card is useful to get medical and pharmacies benefits and also to get assistant funds.

Court has ordered to follow decisions taken in gram sabha. For example, if gram sabha decides to shut down liquor shop in their village, nobody can start liquor shop there. Gram sabha is very powerful. The gram sabha meetings happen 4times in a year, i.e on January 26th, May 1st, August 15th and October 2nd. Silvanus: Very good... Who will believe if I say you are uneducated. You are very brilliant. Super. I asked you to share it with your friends and neighbors. Did you share? Lakshmi: Yes.. I have shared it with everyone. We all are going to participate in tomorrow’s gramsabha in our panchayath. Silvanus: Very good my dear. Please do participate in gram sabha. But before that, know the process of gram sabha. It will be useful for you when you take part in it. Lakshmi: Sure brother Silvanus: Gram sabha should be headed by Panchath council head. 7 days before that meeting the gist of meeting should be discussed with panchayth council members and the report should be prepared. Lakshmi: Who should prepare the report brother? Silvanus: Of course panchayath head!! Lakshmi: Okay.. How will they intimate people about this? Silvanus: It will be done through public announcement or by giving pamphlets and by sticking posters in main areas. Lakshmi: Oh okay Silvanus: Same way, these meeting should not happen in any particular religion places. If there are many villages in a particular area, on rotation basis gram sabha meetings should be conducted. On the same day Income and expenditure account will be read on this day. If district collector or Rural development director wants to discuss any specific point, they must discuss it on that day. Lakshmi: Ohhhh… So many things are involved Silvanus: Yes!!! Tomorrow when you attend, make sure that everything is happening. If they are missing something, you should question them. Lakshmi: Definatly I will brother. And one more thing brother.. Silvanus: Please ask my dear Lakshmi: My friends anted to know whether food will be provided during gram sabha? Silvanus: There you go!!! Our people will never change. If they get anything to eat, they will nod their head for anything and everything. Then how can we find growth? Everyone will cheat. Lakshmi: What are you saying brother? Silvanus: Yeaa my dear!!! For every meeting, they can spend up to Rs1000 from panchayath fund. But our people will be more focused it and they will eat and leave the place. But this time it should not happen like that. For that people like should take responsibility. Lakshmi: Brother.. Thanks for sharing this. Now you will show that we will not nod our head for whatever they say. We will prove that we are human beings with 6th sense. Silvanus: Very good!!! You said it beautifully. My dear friends participate in tomorrow’s gram sabha in your area and observe what all we said are happening or not. If its not happening be brave and question them. Prove them that you will no more nod your head for anything and they can’t fool you anymore. Make use of your rights properly.

Reply: As per International Labour Organization, 8 hours of work, weekly off, equal wage for equal work, maternity benefits for women, medical benefits for workers, labours safety, right to form union, right to strike, right to compensation these are the labour rights. Considering the welfare of people working in company is trading sector and stop their work exploitation and to save their rights 44 labours acts are shrinked to 4 major laws and are getting prepared to implement.
