As an opportunity for the people to take part in village development programs, every year 4 times gram sabha is being conducted. In the year 2020 Republic day, January 26th first gram sabha was conducted. On May 1st gram sabha was not conducted due to lockdown. TN Govt has cancelled all the gram sabha meetings which were suppose to happen on January 26th Republic day. Still you can post your requests to our cell phone radio by pressing 3. Your registered requests will be sent to Dist collector on behalf of our radio. Due to corona gram sabhas has been cancelled on May 1st, August 15th, October 2nd by Govt. In this situation gram sabha which was suppose to happen on January 26th has also been cancelled. Govt has instructed Dist collector to ensure that no gram sabha should happen.

Kaliappan: Approval for the schemes related to the development of village will be done in the gram sabha meeting. Also approval for annual income and expenditure will also be done there. Also selecting the beneficiaries for the schemes of Govt should also be approved in this meeting. Review of the schemes will be done in this meeting. Villagers should come forward voluntarily and this is the place where people will be motivated to give their contribution as money, product or as effort for the development of village. I have neer attended gram sabha meeting. This time i am planning to attend. There are many people without house. 3-4 families are living in one house. SO we are planning to give petition on giving land to people without house.
Kaliappan: State finance commission allots 10% of its funds for our panchayath. Minimum contribution will be also given from Central commission as direct funding. State commission gives minimum of 7lakh rupees to every panchayath. More funding will be given according to the population, count of backward people and landscape of village. Maximum of 20 to 25 lakhs per year is given. Central Govt gives fund in the name of project funding. Like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, MGNREGA project, to implement such Central Govt schemes Central Govt gives direct funding. Other than this State Govt also fulfills some projects. For example Chief Minister Solar Powered Green House Scheme, Tamil Nadu Rural Roads Improvement Scheme. PM scheme and TN are both different. For all these we are getting separate funding. State and central Govt is giving funding for our and village development. Selecting the beneficiaries and making proper use of all the funding is the duty of each one of us. Narrator: Thank you sir.
