For school going children and workers working for monthly salary the "Holiday" is such a sweet word. In many countries holidays are nothing but some of the important and exclusive days considered by an Individual, Govt or Institutions. In countries like England, Australia, Canada holiday is a rest day where you are not involved in regular work and education. To talk about America a day to celebrate any festival is called as Holiday. As per India is concerned, a day of off for the reasons like culture, Govt or Political reasons. Ok, lets see what is holiday for workers. As per Industrial act 1948(section 52), first day of work i.e Sunday is a normal Holiday. If a company is not giving holiday on Sunday, the administrator of the company should announce 3 days prior or later as holiday. Main thing, law says without any day of off no worker should work for continues 10 days. A holiday is a 24 hours rest day for their change of shift. If he leaves the work on Saturday evening. till Monday morning being on rest for 24 hours is called as holiday. Law says, if the worker is forced to work continuously without giving Holiday, then the worker can claim for compensation. So rest is important for a worker, holiday is important. If holiday is not given, they can claim for compensation. This is labour right. Not only getting salary for the work done, 8 hours of work should be assured, at the same time weekly off should also be assured. who should assure this? We!! We workers should ask and get our rights.

The reason is, Today is February 20, across the world it is celebrated as "World day for Social justice". Many people have fought for Social Justice. Today Feb 20, Thursday we all must know about social justice. Thats why we are talking about Social Justice. Do you know why is this day celebrated? I worked for 2 years. In these 2 years i went to ESI hospital only twice. I worked in a village called Attiperur village. They gave me card and everything. I left my work but i have that card with me. I dont know whether i can got here again. I am not working in company anymore. Dont know what to do. I have ESI card. Leone: Social securities like EPF and ESI will help you throughout the year. So even if you have quit your job you can use ESI hospital facility using ESI card. For example, You have the opportunity to use the ESi card for this entire year, but still when you go to ESI hospital and how the card they are asking you to renew the card. Till the time they ask you to renew it, you can make use of that card and get the medical benefit. But still for surgeries your ESI card renewal is must. Thank you dear friend. One day two people were working. One of them was digging the land in 1 meter distance and another one was closing it. Everyone who saw it were confused thinking why are they digging and why the other one is closing it. Then they went to them and asked why are you doing like this. For that they said, one person is supposed to dig another is suppose to plant a tree and another one is suppose to close. The one who is suppose to plant is on leave. Just because he is on leave, we cannot sit idle. So we are doing our work. This story is made to make fun of Govt jobs. We can say it in another way too. When you have the option like ESI scheme, there are workers who are not using it. For such workers it suits them. There are crores of workers in this country. But only 3% of workers have got this ESI facility. Ho bad it is if you are not using such useful thing!! If we ask when you have free medical facility for you and your family in ESI hospital, they will say ESI hospital is far away, i need to go to Chengalpet from here. Thats why i didnt go. This is the answer we get. 10-15 years there was a survey done. The result of the survey said that Yearly person is paying Rs.2000 for medical and health. If per person is Rs.2000 it will 10000 to 12000 per family. Remember that its 10-15 years old census. If we see now it will be even more higher. If you calculate it, it will be more than your monthly salary. If you see family expenses, such tiny expenses will cost more. ESI is a great opportunity and everyone should use it. We were talking about New pension scheme 2019. But many people doesnt know what is new pension scheme 2019. So lets talk about it. It is Pradhan Mantri Shram-Yogi Maandhan Yojana. Its nothing but new pension scheme of Prime minister. It has been implemented from February 15,2019. It assures monthly pension of Rs 3000 to organised workers once they attain the age of 60. The purpose of this scheme is to get 10 crore beneficiaries by the end of next 5 years. To join this scheme, the monthly wages should be less than Rs.15000 and people between the age of the age of 18 to 40. They should not be tax payers or getting beenfit like PF, ESI. If you join this scheme you will get monthly Rs. 3000. To join this scheme, Adhar card and savings account number is important. If the beneficiary is 18 years old, he has to pay Rs.55 monthly. If he is 29 years old he should pay Rs.100. If 40 years old monthly he should pay Rs.200. If you are more than the age of 40, then you are not eligible for this scheme. Monthly Rs.3000 will be given as pension under this scheme. If you want to take the money within 10 years of investing, you will get the amount you have paid and interest which is deposited in your SB account. If you are taking after 10 years, you will get the money you have paid along with accumulated interest or SB account interest whichever is more. If the person who is paying money dies in between, then his child will not get the money. But there is a chance of getting a portion money to your children. Leone: Listeners, in last weeks' VGW program we discussed about new pension scheme introduced by Central Govt. Our listeners have recorded their comments about this. Lets hear it. Leone: First we have Arul from Mettukuppam sharing his comments. Arul: I am Arul from Mettukuppam. I really wont agree with this scheme. As they say if we have to pay money for 5 or 10 years we will have some benefits. If we are paying at the age of 40 till 60 and getting money back is really waste. Practically it wont work. Its ok if we have to pay for 5 or 10 years. This scheme of paying money till a particular age and in between we die the money will go to some one else. This wont work out. If the person who is paying if he gets the benefit, he will be satisfied. Without satisfaction if we are paying money then there is no use of paying money. Its waste. So its better not to pay money. No one will be benefited. What is this if i am dying in between half money will go to someone and other half will not go to anyone. What is this? Its totally waste. Thank you. Leone: Next, Karpagam from Perumbakkam shares her comment. Karpagam: They told that we have to pay money according to the age. What is the use if we are not able to enjoy the money when we are alive. In this present era women are working hard by spoiling their health. We are not sure whether we will be alive till 50 years. Earlier food used to be healthy. But now everything has chemicals and we are eating unhealthy food. So we will be happy if we are getting from the age of 30 when we are alive. Rather doing this they are giving at the age of 50-60 or the money will go to someone else. It will e great if the Govt does something where we get money when are 30. It will be really great if we get this through welfare board. Leone: We will share the opinion of experts about this scheme. But still what you workers share about this scheme. But if any youngsters pays the money in private money the same question arises. What sumathi mam told was right. If we pay in welfare board it will be useful.

In the varities of savings like Bank savings, PF, insurance, Central Govt has introduced another saving schemes in the year 2019. Lets hear what our respective PTS members has to about it. 1st by Ms. Saraswati: - Saraswati: Money as per their age. If they are 19 years old they should pay Rs.200, if 20 years old then Rs.300. Just like this according to their age, monthly they should pay the money. Its not annually, they need to pay monthly. Once they are 60 years old, as per the amount they have paid. From Rs.2000 to Rs.5000 they may get. In case if the person dies the nominee will get the money. Leone: Lets hear what Sangeetha has to say. Sangeetha: How many people have paid it? No one. You say that we need to pay for 40 years. If i am applying it, i should enjoy it, why should some one else enjoy it? If they are not feeding me when i am alive, then what is the use of enjoying the money after my death? Leone: Lets hear the comments of Sumathi. Sumathi: Thats what sir. I am a worker. I have registered in labour board. Even in labour board they told me about this scheme. They told me to pay the money. Where to pay the money? They will form an organisation for that. Its a private institute. We have to pay there. I told them, i am a labour and i have registered in welfare board. I will pay in welfare board and you give me the receipt. Only them we feel there is some safety. And we will feel free to ask for pension. We cannot pay money in private institute. Thats why many labours pay money there. Leone: Ok everyone. We have asked this question to PTS incharge Santhanamari. The question was, what is the problem faced by unorganised worker in getting welfare board card? Santhanamari: Earlier unorganised workers have faced problems like getting sign in NOC from VO and RI. There were many issues like that. But after the continuous protest from unions they are coming directly and verifying and pension is being credited. Now its happening quickly. Earlier applications given on 2016-17 were credited on 2018. But this year, they are getting pension within 6 months. And there is no need to run behind NOC letter. Many old people cannot run behind VO and RI to get signature. So many people left it like that. Many people didnt renew it just becuase they have to run behind NOC letter. Leone: If a worker didnt renew his welfare card, whether he has to get a new one? Santhanamari: No they cannot apply freshly because they are already registered there. Again they will not register them. Only till 60 we can be in welfare. After that if we are not renewing thats it. Thats why they are struggling alot. Thats why we fought during 2018. At that time they said they will take care of NOC letter. Now they are verifying and making calls to them. Leone: You are getting pension for PTS members. How can a non member and unorganised worker will get his card and where should he and whom should he meet. Santhanamari: They have to go to Tahshildar office. They have to fill the application and get signature from VO and RI. Otherwise they have to go to collector office. Even if its widow or for old age pension they have to go to collector office. Other wise whenever there is a camp happening you can go and register. Many have got pension by making use of camp. Leone: 2 things are clear by listening to Santhanamari. Govt has reduced the rules for registering in welfare board and they are giving pension for those who are registering even at the age of 58. And Its better to join any union like PTS to get welfare card rather than an individual running behind getting the sign from VO & RI. When we approch with union things become smooth.
