Before we learn more about computers, let us first understand what a computer is. A computer is an electronic machine that accepts input, processes it, and produces the desired output. Every computer is a combination of hardware and software. The physical parts of a computer that can be seen and touched are called hardware. For example, the CPU, monitor, keyboard, printer, and other peripheral devices are all hardware components. The information or instructions given to a computer are provided as input. A set of instructions given to a computer to perform a specific task is called a program. Many such programs together form software for a computer. Operating systems, antivirus programs, MS Office, and computer games are all examples of software applications.
