Ramashish reports from Khajauli, Madhubani, Bihar. Ever since the National Food security Mission was launched, approximately 10,000 families residing in 14 panchayats of Khajauli have not received ration. These families submitted their application from the block to the sub-divisional office, but they have not received ration cards in the last 5-6 years. In this regard, a public interest litigation was also submitted in the Patna High Court. The High Court taking cognisance of the matter ordered the dispatch of ration cards in November 2017, but no action was taken. During the Corona pandemic, the Bihar government ordered to issue ration cards in a week’s time so that ration provisions can be made available to people. It has already been a month and there are still no ration cards in sight for needy families here. It seems that marginalised families will not get ration even during the Corona pandemic.
