Alok Kumar Singh from Jamui, Bihar interviewed social worker Mr. Shivshankar. As per his opinion the main reason behind gender based violence is strong patriarchal mentality. Apart from that low literacy rate is also contributing to the fact. In Bihar women literacy rater is lower than male literacy rate. Along with that women don't get much opportunities in life like men. This leads to a situation where women don't express their feelings and situation to others and become victims of violence. He also suggested that dowry system should be abolished at the first place to tackle gender based violence in the society. Encouraging women education and creating equal opportunity for women should be also an important step towards fighting gender based violence.
