So, there is a guy who is very worried about his age. He wants to correct his age on his Aadhaar card. When he goes to the office to get it corrected, they say, "The age on your Aadhaar card has been increased by 8 years extra, so this correction will not be possible." And when he argues with them, they ask for a written explanation as to why they cannot make the correction. They want that in writing. In fact, when I myself called the Aadhaar card helpline number to ask about this, they said if you want to reduce your age, you can only reduce it by up to 3 years, only three years. If it is more than that, the correction will not be allowed. So if your age is inflated by 3 or 4 years, then it might be reduced, but if it is 8 or 10 years, then it won’t be possible. So you are asking why they won’t do it and want it in writing? There is no guideline that says they must give you a written explanation. By the way, the helpline number of Aadhaar is 1947. If you don’t know the number, it is frequently advertised and publicized. You can call this number and ask them the same question. Here is what you should ask: Ask the person on the call—whether male or female—this question: "Sir/Madam, my Aadhaar card shows that my age is increased by so many years extra. I want to reduce my age to the correct number. How much can I reduce it by? What is the official guideline for this?"
