Mili Saho, SDA president from Mayfair Nagar Ward 16 shared in IVRS that they no longer have any problem with the water supply, as the settlement now receives water 24 hours a day.
Kalpana Pradhan, a teenage girl from Gudiatota Sahi, ward 49, reported via IVRS that the community has been facing a water supply issue for the past 2 days. This has made it very challenging for the residents to meet their water needs. As a result, 34 households have had to rely on a dug well, but even this water source is insufficient due to groundwater depletion. It was discovered that the main water pipeline supplying the area was broken at the entrance of the settlement, leading to significant water wastage. Despite the community's efforts to stop the leakage using tubes and cloths, the flow of water was too strong to be contained. The community members informed the authorities about the issue, leading to immediate action from the WATCO office to repair the damaged pipeline. However, the problem recurred, prompting the community to plan a meeting to address the ongoing water supply issue.
Water was not coming from last 2 days but now the water is coming
Reena Sahoo, a community member from Budheswari Colony Ward 42, reported in IVRS that there were 4 households experiencing water scarcity due to the broken supply water pipeline in their settlement, informed the local corporator by SDA member Sidhart Pradhan. The corporator then notified the WATCO department about the water pipeline issue, which was subsequently repaired. As a result, the 4 households now have access to safe drinking water, and the repair has reduced the risk of future water shortages.
Pramila Samal, an elderly resident of Laxmi Sagar Upper Sahi Ward 43, reported through IVRS about a water supply point. The water pipeline is connected to every household, but there are 2 to 3 leakages in the supply water tap near the drain. The drain is clogged with was to te, causing it to overflow and contaminate the water supply. Although this issue was previously reported to the WATCO department and repaired, it has resurfaced. We are concerned about the safety of the water, especially during the rainy season when the drain overflows.
Purna Chandra Bhoi, SDA Secretary of Laxmisagar Uppar Sahi, Ward 43, reported via IVRS that the water supply pipeline has leaked in several places which is near the drain, increasing the risk of water contamination. Although the WATCO department had previously repaired the pipeline, the same issue has arisen again and needs urgent attention.
