Tuition are taken in CRP centres with the intention that kids should not forget what they learnt. Since gram sabha didnt happen, people shared their view in our radio in Makkal sabha. Hello Comrade. what do you think about the Makkal sabha which is conducted by following Govt rules instead of Gram sabha which has been cancelled due to lock down. Thangavel: I am Thangavel from Vizhithugal organisation. Due to corona lockdown, poor people, especially people from low caste, tribal people are struggling to out of their village for work. They have lost their livelihood. Villagers tell their needs during gram sabha meetings and get assistance and schemes from Govt. But due to corona lock down, May 1st gram sabha meeting didnt happen. In the same way August 15th gram sabha meetings are not happening. You all are aware our cell phone radio, I got to know that people came forward to tell their needs in Makkal sabha. Thats really great. As a part of bringing it to Govt's notice its good to record in this radio. By maintaining social distancing you can register in TK about your needs. Richard: What do you think what all actions can Govt taken for the gram sabhas cancelled for 2 times in last 5 months? Thangavel: Due to corona, in last 5 months gram sabha was cancelled twice. Hence people are not able to convey about their basic needs to Govt. So Govt should consider and Govt can conduct Hamlet gram sabhas. Ward members of the hamlet, anganwadi workers, teachers of that village, nutrition workers. Village nurses agroup of all these people can conduct hamlet gram sabha meeting and address the needs of the village. Also Govt can send special officers to hamlets and get petition. Govt should create an opportunity to people to convey about their needs.

I called Thangavel sir from Vizhithugal. He said meeting is happening in Polatha palayam and asked me to come there. P1: Polatha Palayam??? VM: You are getting scared with the name right?? (Pollatha means wicked in Tamil) Why to take risk? So I called READ Karupusamy sir. P1: What sis he say?? VM: He said Thattamathur colony, Puliyakatur, Sengottai nagar in many places its happening. He said you are welcome to any place. I was happy that its happening in many places and took my bike and visited all the streets. There was not even a person seen. P1: What boss, you should have asked someone in that place. VM: I did ask!! I asked a lady, ma where is Makkal sabha meeting is happening. That lady stared at me and said "Huh"!!! P1: May be they conducted secretly??!!! VM: Come on!! Is it a robbery meeting to conduct secretly!! P1: Haha right!! This is Makkal sabha meeting!! Then why no one is seen?? May be that was a false information!! VM: Even I thought the same and called radio and asked. P1: What did they say?? VM: For this Richard asked me, What sir, we should social distancing, we shouldnt gather as crowd. Thats why Govt has not conducted gram sabha!! P1: Then how was Makkal sabha conducted?? VM: It happened in Radio!! people participated by being at home and recorded their basic needs of village y pressing 3.
