I am Kani from PTS office Ambattur. In thoothukudi sterlite company ban protest 13 people lost their lives. It's really heart-wrenching. As many people started protesting against Tamilnadu government, yesterday Sterlite company was sealed. Not only thoothukudi people but each and every tamil people are happy. The government should have banned it earlier. What type of government is this? After taking 13 lives it is taking some action. Government is for people, people are not for government.

I am Sumathi and I am calling from Kanchipuram dist. Yesterday we had a meeting in chrompet on behalf of PTS. The meeting was for domestic helpers. The purpose of the meeting was, making them aware of minimum wages and they themselves deciding their salary. Members and incharges from 4 branches participated in this meeting. While discussing about wages for their work, it was found that it is different in each branch. But people from Chrompet kakkalamchavadi housing board are getting very low wages. They go to work at nearby places. They work even in the morning and in the evening. But the wage is very low. People from Hastinapuram also shared their wages. But the main purpose of the meeting was fixing the wage amount by the worker and introducing the rate card. They shared that they have many problems in the workplace. For 1 hour Rs.700 is the salary. To talk to them about wage Vaishnavi was present and in charge of other branches were also present. We discussed about workers fixing their salary, what amount for what work, rate for each work like, washing clothes, vessels, cleaning house etc. We also asked them to have meeting in their branch and give the xerox of that rate card. Once thay conduct the meeting and fix the rate, we are planning to have a meeting in the month of May and we can decide on the wage to be fixed and give petition on the same.

Adlin is giving good information about alcoholism and alcoholics. Wives of alcoholics are usually the victims of depression and mental stress. Is there any counselling centres for them?
I am going to talk about evacuation. We have protested to stop evacuation from Nerkundram and omshakthi nagar. When we spoke to them in the meeting they said, they will not go to the places which are allocated by Govt. because the school facility, koyambedu market facility and job opportunity are in these places. But Govt was firm in evacuating them. So the residents told they can move to Kudapakkam. So we 25members went and met collector Sundaravalli and gave petition. But the Govt allotted Padappai area. Again we 60 members conducted meetings and met collector and gave 2nd petition. Immediate next day collector called and told us that they have been allotted Kudapakkam area.
