My Name is Santhanamari. I am calling from PTS. We are working in 3 districts. And we work among domestic helpers. There are many challenges. First we joined them in union. At that time there were may problems. In that area many people were struggling because they were not able to send the children to school. And they were planning to send them for work. SO we requested them to join union and if they join union they will get some money for their kids education. Now the domestic helpers are sending their kids to school. We are helping them in getting subsidy and allowance for education, marriage etc. Earlier they were not aware of the benefits. Through our union we conduct meeting and aware them. Those who joined in 2003 they started applying for pensions. In 2017 we applied for pension for 17 people. But for 6 months they dragged it and troubled worker saying photo is not right or we need NOC. They made workers to come 2-3 times. Then we went and spoke to them. Now they are getting Rs.1000 as pension. Every Jan 26 & May 1st we conduct the protest. After the protest, we started getting pension. e conducted many meetings to create awareness among them on child marriage. Now things are far better.
I am Santhanamari. He have a success story in Pudur banu nagar. I would like to share the same. There are almost 1500 houses in pudur. There was no water facility and roads were in bad condition. Incharge Rathanavalli was present for PTS meeting. Elections were nearing during that time. She told everyone to prepare a list of basic facilities you need and give it the MLA and counselor. At that we collected signature from everyone. And when MLA Alexander came for election campaign we gave the petition and told him only if we get road and water only then we will vote for you. All our 40 members told the same thing. He said ok for that. Our members asked to sign on the form. He promised to lay roads. That time one house was burnt. And I got call from them. I told them to contact Alexander. through union we can help but the hep will be very minimal. They went to MLA and immidiatly he gave R.21000.
