Caller: I am calling from Dindugal dist Ottanchathiram, Kyakarambu Panchayath,Thippanpatti colony. Due to corona from last 3 month we folk artist are not getting any income. We dont have money to buy milk too. Rice is given in ration shop. 20 kg rice is given in ration shop. 20 kg rice is sufficient for only 10 days. If we had work we run our family smoothly. Due to no job we have no job. I need ID card from Govt for Folk artists. I dont even know where is the office related to art. Please help us. Ponnusamy: How folk artists can register in welfare board. Tamil nadu folk artistes welfare board comes under Tamil nadu Art & Culture dept. Artist aging 18 years to 60 years are joined in this board. All the benefits which are received by registered unorganised workers has been given to registered folk artists as per the GO dated 17-09-2019. Since folk artists are not registering they are not getting any benefits and becoming vulnerable. Where can folk artists register? Folk artists can register with all the proper documents at Madurai zonal art and culture dept and become the members. Documents required are: family card, voter ID, bank account number, Adhar card, permanent cell phone number. Get a document from your village VAO saying they are folk artists from last 5- 10 years and he will sign on it. If the applicant has the document of Kalaimamani award Kali sudar award, they can attach along with it during registration. After applying in Art and culture dept you will be given separate receipt for ID and welfare card. After 15 days or 1month you can get you ID card.
