Kalpana Chawla will grab the first place if we talk about Indian Achiever women. She a role model for many women. Travelling to space is not an easy joke. Having knowledge about Engineering not sufficient for this. Physical strength, courage is also necessary. Kalpana Chawla is the woman who owns all these and a first proud woman to travel to Space. She was born on March 17, 1962 in Haryana's Karnal as the daughter of Banaraslal Chawla and Sanyogita Devi. Sh has 2 sisters namely, Sunita and Deepa. She also has a brother named Sanjay. She started her schooling in Karnal's Govt school. During 1982 she joined engineering in Chandigad. During 1984 obtained a Master of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas. She got her second Masters in 1986 and a PhD in aerospace engineering in 1988. In the same year, she joined NASA as Vice President. During 1995 she joined NASA Astronaut Corps. Within 2 years she got eligibility to join Space Shuttle Columbia. In 1997's travel she was in space for 372 hours and successfully she came back to earth. With this she became the 1st Indian woman to go to Space. After the 1st successful trip, with 5 years she prepared for her 2nd trip. The travel was supposed to be done during 2000 and 2002, but due to technical issues, it was delayed. On January 16th 2003, STS -107 was sent to Space for research. Including Kalpana Chawla, 7 others were travelling with her. They were returning back after 16 days of research. But they all lost their lives in Space Shuttle disaster. Kalpana Chawla is a person who proved her dreams by starting her schooling in a simple school.
