Greetings. I, Shivam Kumar, from Saharanpur district, Uttar Pradesh, respectfully share a few thoughts with complete sincerity, bowing in reverence to Louis Braille. If Louis Braille had not done the work he did, perhaps today we blind people would not have been able to study at all. Among us, there are many companions who are today employed in Railways Group D, banks, and even holding high positions as officers—and they are from our own blind community. If we had not been able to study, life would have been extremely difficult for us. Therefore, I bow again and again to Louis Braille, who created such a system through which we are able to receive education today and move forward in our lives. Without his contribution, we would have been wandering from door to door, facing hardships at every step. Louis Braille did a remarkable and invaluable deed. We greatly appreciate his contribution and say to our friends and companions that his work has changed our lives forever.

I have come once again to our garden, where some of our companions were discussing the immortal saint Louis Braille. However, the biography of Louis Braille was being narrated with some inaccuracies, so I would like to humbly make a small correction. My companions, the immortal saint Louis Braille was born on 4 January 1809 in a village named Coupvray in France. His father’s name was Simon-René Braille. His Mahaparinirvan (death) day is observed on 6 January 1852. Thus, his birth was on 4 January 1809 and his Mahaparinirvan on 6 January 1852. After his passing, recognition of his script (the Braille script) came to the world almost one hundred years later. When the immortal saint Louis Braille passed away, he was suffering from tuberculosis, caused by relentless hard work and the lack of medical facilities in those times. After he left his body, he was initially buried quietly and without much honor. However, when—about a hundred years later—the entire world accepted and adopted this great system he created, his mortal remains were removed from the place where he was originally buried and re-interred at a site where the kings of France and other distinguished personalities are laid to rest, where memorials of eminent people are established. There, our beloved immortal saint Louis Braille was given a place of honor. This event occurred after 6 January 1852, so please remember his date of death correctly as 6 January 1852. I have made this correction. I will come again later; there will be more discussion. It feels very good, and I appreciate the campaign of Swagat Ji.

I am Mr. Shiv Kumar from Tehsil Banogarh, MP and I am visually impaired. I want to say that everyone should have knowledge about Braille. Without Braille, visually impaired people remain illiterate. Therefore, Braille should be widely promoted. People should join Hamari Vaani, and its monthly magazine should be made available in every district, free of cost, so that visually impaired people do not remain illiterate. Thank you.
