Almost all the ghazals he sang were with his wife Chitra Singh. Then there are great ghazal singers like Ghulam Ali, Pankaj Udhas, and Chandan Das — all of them pure ghazal artists, though nowadays that kind of purity is rarely found. Ghulam Ali has sung many beautiful ghazals such as: “Kithne muddat baad mile ho” “Dil mein ghubar sa hai” “Kuch din to baso meri aankhon mein” “Mujhse pehli si mohabbat mere mehboob na maang” “Dekho to aise bolte hain” “Sawan ke suhaane mausam mein” “Ek na ek badal to zaroor barsega” and many more. Then there are famous ghazals like “Sabko maloom hai main sharabi nahin”, “Phir ek taraf mehfil, ek taraf khuda”, “Zindagi kuch to bata”, “Jis gaon mein piya nahin, us gaon mein bhaag lage”, and many others by Meena Mehta, Rajendra Mehta, Bhupinder Singh, etc. But Jagjit Singh truly stands as the King of Ghazals, while Ghulam Ali is also legendary. Pankaj Udhas is no less — his ghazals like “Aahista aahista”, “Chitthi aayi hai”, and “Na kajre ki dhaar” are unforgettable. Once, during a program in England, he owned the stage completely — a true performer! The truth is, each of these ghazal singers — whether Jagjit Singh, Ghulam Ali, or Pankaj Udhas — is an artist of unmatched caliber. And as for ghazals, brother — there’s no way to count them all!
