Ganagavel: No, I am selling the toy on the train and not on the platform. we start from Erode, Tirupur and Kovai by train and we return back again by train. Eswar: Do you get a ticket for train travelling? Ganagaraj: We won't get a train ticket and the Ticket checker would give permission to travel in a train without a ticket on the basis of being. Eswar: How much you can earn per day? Ganagaraj: Per day can get 300 or 350 rupees but not all time and school days can earn much and otherwise income might be 250 rupees per day. Eswar: Have both of you doing work and how much? Ganagaraj: We have two children and she has taken care of children, sending them to school, so I am only going to work. Eswar; During the corona period, have you gone to work or be at the home? Ganagaraj: yes, we are at home and there is no work. Eswar; How did you manage it in the corona period? Ganagaraj; I have received a provision from Ration Shop and some people were helps us like you. Eswar: What you have done in 1000 rupees? Ganagaraj: I bought 25 kilos of rice in an effort of extra 300 rupees. Eswar; you have not used this amount for Medical purposes? Ganagaraj; we are four members of the family, we don't want to go and ask for food somebody and getting rice from Ration shop, till now, there is medical purpose have not come by god grace. Eswar: Did you received 2000 rupees from Government in the Ration shop and do you have a Ration card? Ganagaraj; Yes, I have a Ration card and they have said to give on next week.
Leone: If we get a news of any new disease, there are many instant doctors in social media who will come up with their ideas. Among them one viral hack is, if we drink hot water once in 20 minutes corona virus in the throat will die and go to stomach. Is this true? Dr. Jaya: If at all this SARS Covi 2 will die by drinking hot water why scientist will do research for so many medicines. We can simply boil the water and drink water and there will not be any pandemic. So everyone should know that this virus will not die by drinking hot water. Some people talk about taking steam inhalation. They say if we take steam virus in the nasal will die. Even we dont know the authenticity of this. Until we do a research on it we can tell whether its true or not. But somehow what we have in our hand is social distancing, face mask, hand washing. So dont believe such rumours. Leone: Starting from kids to elders, educated and uneducated people more than virus they are scared whether they will get infected with this virus and die because of it and what their families will do if it happens. What is your positive message for them to motivate them and give them hope. Dr. Jaya: There is no need to get scared of Corona virus unnecessarily. There is no need to get scared if you are wearing mask, maintaining social distance, washing hands and took 2 doses of vaccination. Also understand one thing that there are 2to5% in hundred people are only are getting severely affected and they are pushed for intense treatment. Among them only few are dying. So the number of people undergoing hospitalization is very less. For more than 95% people there is no need of going to hospital. They can take home care by isolating at home and supply healthy food, hot drinking water, paracetamol is more than enough. And there is no need of any other medication and actually there is no other medicine for this. Only 3% of people are pushed to severity and intense treatment and among them 1-2% people may die. So 98% people will not face any issue. But we will be able to pass the infection to other people. So not wearing mask, going for work, talking with others, going to market, coughing on others, all these causes risk to our community because of us. You will be able to find whether you have this virus or not by taking test. Sometimes even if people are tested positive they will not have any symptoms. They will be perfectly fine. They are called as Asymptomatic. That is actually very risky. They can spread the virus to others. Because they roam outside. So if anyone in your family is infected you better go and test yourself. Neighbors and colleagues should also go and test themselves. Whatever may be the result whether its positive or negative please do maintain social distancing, wearing mask, washing hands and taking vaccination should be done. Only then we can fight this virus.
Leone: Doctor, by drinking alcohol whether the virus will be killed? Dr. Jaya: I must tell a story in this situation. A doctor went to village to create the awareness. Maximum villagers were alcohol addicts. So farmers used to get drunk and hit their wives and illtreat their children. And used to spend the saved money. Since the situation was worst, the Doctor started the awareness. Everyone were sitting and he wanted to say that this habit is life-threatening, so he poured alcohol in a glass cup and asked what is this? People answered that its alcohol. In that he dropped an earth worm. Immediately that worm struggled to death. Immediately everyone stood up. for that the Doctor asked where are you all going? they said we are going to buy alcohol. You said that if we drink alcohol the worms in our stomach will die. So we are going there. So I must say this is a wrong message. This alcohol will affect our liver, mental health and also affects our well being and our family. Its completely a lie that by drinking this it will kill virus like medicine. Leone: Doctor is there any treatment which can be given immediately to corona patients? Dr. Jaya: Till now we dont have a one shot medicine for SARS Covi 2 - Covid 19 disease. So prevention is better than cure is the best medicine. So since it spreads through air from one person to other, social distancing is the best thing. Talk by maintaining social distancing, also wear face mask. Many people are thinking that wearing costly N95 masks will only give protection. But triple layer that cotton masks which has 3 layers of cloth and it shouldnt be loose which allows the entry and exit of air will give the best safety which is equal to N95 mask. Always go out after wearing the mask. If anyone at house is infected with this virus, isolate them and other family members should also wear mask at home. Mask plus social distancing other than these 2, we have to wash our hands cleanly. Because while sneezing and coughing the germs will be near them. For example if they are at kitchen, when the infected person sneezes he will spread the virus on kitchen counter top and vessels, bed, sofa around the house. Everything will be cleaned by using spray and keep it clean. So washing hands regularly, wearing mask, social distancing, if we follow all these 3, the virus will not come near us. If we ourselves go voluntarily and invite the virus in our body they will enter our body. If we follow all the rules we will surely not get infected with this virus. Another weapon which will help us to prevent ourselves from this virus is, vaccine! In India we have mainly 2 vaccines given as of now. One is Covishield which is from Oxford AstraZeneca company another vaccine is from our own Indian company Bharath Biotech and its Covaxin. Both the vaccines are really good. Infact latest reports says that our Indian vaccine is better than Covishield. Vaccines should be taken in 2 doses. From one month to six weeks gap upto 8 weeks gap can be given. Who all can take this vaccine? People above the age of 18 can take this vaccine. Even 100 year old grandma can also take this vaccine.
Leone: Doctor, please tell us how our body deals with such disease spreading virus. Dr. Jaya: When bacteria, virus enters our body our body will not keep quiet. We have a police, arm force in our body we call it as immune system, it starts fighting as soon as it sees it. Even when SARS Covi 2 enters our body and enters the cell and stars doubling, our immune system releases small drops just like bullets those are called as anti bodies. These anti bodies will cover the SARS Covi 2 and wont allow them to enter the cell. Even after producing the large amount of anti bodies by our Immune system, it is not able to control the control the speed of this virus. So even if the immune system may fight its best but it is not able to control the production of this virus in our body once it enters. Leone: What our body does when virus spread is more than immune system. Dr. Jaya: That time our body tries some other plans. Thinking that how badly this SARS Covi 2 is affecting the lungs our immune system starts to push chemicals in our lungs in large quantity. Just like the way we react when we are angry on certain things. Because of Cytokines chemical more amount of water stores in our lungs. This will create choke and lungs and this will lead to breathlessness and which results in need of oxygen and this will lead to emergency medical treatment. Leone: So does it means that virus is not the reason for life threat among people.
Leone: There are varieties of bacteria's and virus's are living inside human body. Some say Corona virus comes from one such virus family. Is it true doctor? Dr. Jaya: The Scientific answer is no. When new such virus enters our body, it brings severe diseases. The bacteria and virus which are inside our body will have a good relation to come extent. For example our food pipe has many bacterias. These bacterias are living with us from thousands of years and it helps us alot. It produces Vitamin B. Naturally our bodies cannot create Vitamin B. But the bacterias in our food pipes does this job for us and its an useful micro nutrient. rom thousands of years we have so many bacteria in our body. From the time when human used to live in caves till now after so many evolutions we have those bacterias in our body. Actually these virus forms placenta and helps to supply the nutrient to the babies inside the womb. So virus is the main reason behind the formation of placenta. So we have good relation with virus but the new virus enters our body looks human body as a food material. Thats why these side effects are happening and SARS Covi 2 which has affected the whole world and created Corona virus is a new virus. This is a virus which our body never had. Now if a person breathes the air which has SARS Covi 2 virus, the virus enters our lungs. These virus has small spikes around its body. Dr. Jaya: From this what do we understand?? These virus which comes from animal being to human being will always cause threat in a big manner. We already saw this in AIDS disease spread. These virus transferred from Chimpanzees to human being and across the world it created a disease called AIDS. In the same way, from a bat category called Pangolin this virus might have spread. This is just a guess. So we have to maintain forests and when we hunt forest animals and sell it in market as food products we become victims for such things. So wild life should be saved. Forests should be saved. This is the main message. Otherwise one by one such diseases will keep coming. Okay, now this corona virus has entered human being. How is it spreading from one person to another person? When scientists did a research on this, they found that it is spreading through air and while breathing. If a person has corona virus the virus will be in inside nose, upper throat, lungs, breathing pipe. When they talk, cough, sneeze, sing, shout, these cirus will be thrown out into the air. When a person who is standing next to this person breathes such air the virus enters their body via nose and through throat it enters the lungs. There it doubles the virus.
Dr. Jaya: Remaining 3 virus will cause severe disease in our body. 1st disease will be, it affects the lungs and it makes the lungs to unable to breath. The person will struggle alot to take breath. This is a acute syndrome. The person will have further more symptoms like fever, body pain. So this is called Severe acute Respiratory syndrome. In middle East they have MERS Respiratory syndrome. That is Middle East respiratory syndrome. This is another corona virus and it affected body very badly. Now there are no many cases of this virus. So SARS Covi 1, SARS Covi 2, MERS Covi these 3 corona virus affects human lungs and other few body parts. Leone: From where did this corona virus came? Dr. Jaya: Till now Scientists are unable to find it out. Initially many people believed that this virus was found among the people who work in a wild life meat selling place of China but other than the people who worked in the people there were many other people who got this virus. So we are unable to find it out whether we got this virus from that wild life meat market or from any other place. But now the guess is, usually we eat mutton, beef, other than this, naturally in forests there will be few special animals. Some Chinese or some people might have caught this animal for example, Pangolin, some kinds of monkeys, snakes, when such different animals are sold in market, mostly from Pangolin which eats ants, from this animal we might have got this disease. These animals might have got this from bats from the forest. This is just a guess. So far there is no official confirmation about it.
