Friends, there is a new app for persons with disabilities called "Be My Eyes." Those who use Android phones can download this app, and it is very helpful for people who are totally blind. For example, if you want someone to read a document for you, the app can help you with that. If you want to know the color of a T-shirt, you can ask about that too. The app works through video calling, where volunteers connect with you and help you by describing things or reading for you. It works 24 hours a day — once I even called at night, and my call was answered right away! To use the app, you’ll need to sign in. There are three options to sign in: Google – you can sign in with your Google account. Facebook – if you use Facebook, you can log in through that. Email – you can also sign in using your email. After signing in, if your mobile is set to Hindi, you’ll see an option that says “I need visual assistance.” Double tap on that option, and you’ll be signed in successfully. Next, you’ll get options such as “Call a volunteer.” Before making a call, go to Settings and select your language. Today, we’ll learn how to log in or register on this app. But before that, let me tell you one important thing — to use this app or register on it, you must have your UDID card (Unique Disability ID). When you sign up, you will be asked for details such as your mobile number, email ID, full name, and UDID card number. So, make sure you have your UDID card handy before starting the registration process. Now, let me tell you which app you need to download. This is the one — make sure to download this official app only. As I mentioned earlier, this app has been launched by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. When you install the app, make sure that the developer’s name or department name shown is correct.
