Geeta’s aunt received a call from an international number. A woman on the other end, speaking in a very panicked voice, claimed that one of Geeta’s close relatives had met with an accident in Dubai and urgently needed money for medical treatment. Because the fraudster spoke very confidently, Geeta’s aunt believed the story and, out of fear, sent ₹10,000 to that number via GP (GPay). After sending the money, when she tried to contact them again, the fraudster did not answer the call. It was then that they realized it was a scam. 350874
Raju, a lorry driver, talks to a buyer to sell a ceiling fan. Suddenly, a call comes from an unknown number, and the person on the other end introduces himself as the buyer and says that some purchase-related paperwork is pending, for which some money needs to be sent in advance. 122814
