Tribeni Sethy, a community member from Munda Sahi, Ward 38, shared via IVRS that previously, door-to-door waste collection vehicle was not allocated to our ward. Instead, pushcarts were used to collect the waste, resulting mixed waste being handed over to the pushcart later pushcart was dumped at the transit point, including used sanitary napkins. If we couldn't able to give the used sanitary pads to the pushcart, we would either drop them inside the drain, which leading to drainage clogs, or dump them on the roadside, where street dogs creating unhygienic conditions by dragging and spreading. However, now the BMC has allocated a door-to-door collection vehicle to collect segregated waste from our doorstep. An extra box has been attached to the waste collection vehicle to specifically collect sanitary napkins. All households are now aware about the segregation process through microplanning and door-to-door counseling by swacchasathis and supervisor, as result now all are handing over their waste to the BMC vehicle.
