Anna durai: What do you want to say about Gram sabha meeting. Person 1: There is water scarcity in our village. So we have asked to stop illegal supply and supply water to every one as per rule. SO they will do it accordingly. Annadurai: Did you speak about any other problem prevailing in village? P1: Yes we have spoken about light problem. They said they will address it. Bridges near Periyar nagar and Agaranathangal is damaged. we have requested to repair the brides. I have also recommended to put bore-well near Semmanur. Annadurai: As a panchayath secretary which is a common problem according to you? P1: Common problem is water scarcity and electricity. If they give it proper people will be happy. We are giving drinking water for people but they are struggling due to lack of drainage facility. 3 villages are suffering like that. There is no way to send the sewage water. We should make a path for it. We are taking efforts for it. A: You are a panchayath secretary. But people are facing problem in 100 days work scheme. Not getting salary, paying salary to others account. etc. I saw such problems. What is your say on this? P1: NREGA work is going well. Only now they are coming on time and doing the work. There is no correction needs to be done in this. This time people are working really well. Even in hot sun they worked very well. I have to appreciate them for this. Even officials appreciated them. A: Thank you sir. P1: Thank you
Leone: Hello friends. Today we are going to meet Ms. Sujata Modi. Hello Mam. From the past 20 years, you have dedicated yourself and working with domestic and Garment workers. Once i asked your suggestion to start Vizhithelu drama when we met, you gave a beautiful suggestion, i have really liked it very much. We will take care of Women's rights related to PF, ESI. You just convey the message in drama that parents should not scold their children with bad words, should not drink. Just put the disciplinary things which they should add up in their day to day life. It would be great if you share the reason for it. Sujata: I am leading a fortunate life. I have wonderful parents. They brought me up like a glass doll. I have never faced any problem in my life. Tillmy 21st year, till i saw the outside world, I didn't know about the problem. After that when i met people i heard people saying, i have no right to go out, my dad did this, my mom forced me to get married, my brother is fighting with me intentionally, he is beating me. SO many problems inside the family. Even outside girls had no safety there. They are facing problems when they go in bus, when they go to work. To say the truth, there is no equality for the women who are with us. They are not leading the life as men do. What we can do for this equality? We go to college and learning many things. But the labours they are not able to ask for their rights. Unions are like college. If they come to the union they should learn the go forward in life. I want them to get equality in life and lead a respectful life. Leone: You said it beautifully. Usually unions are called as the place which fights for you. But for the first time, you are saying it as a social college to learn. Wonderful mam. Interview with Sujata mam will continue in next episodes.
The interview of GAFWU Head Ms. Sujata was really good. She expressed very well the struggle to unit garment labours, efforts taken to give the prescribed minimum wage by Govt and how she is continuously working for the benefit of workers. I liked it. My wishes to her.
Sathyarani from Klapakkam has registered that a woman is being beaten up in that family. Our branch in charge will meet you in this regard. Our PTS heads will meet you directly and give the solution for that problem. We will meet you in this week.
My name is Pachhayamma. I was in Maduravoil. They have resettled us in Perumbakkam. When we came here there was no water facility, electricity facility, police security, hospital, bus facility, school children suffered alot. Then i registered it. Then PTS came and inquired about our needs. We told them that we don't have work opportunity here, we are suffering alot here because of the mosquito problem. Then I spoke in the meeting and told them that we dont have bus facility, no school facility, no hospital facility, no water facility, no street lights, and no police security. I told and cried to one sir there. Immediate next day he sent 20 people and inquired and gave all the facility. Thank you for giving all the facilities.
