I am Vijayalakshmi from Eri scheme. Santhanamari, sumathi and advocate madam were present. Yesterday we conducted a meeting. 60 members attended the meeting. They explained very well. They explained about women's safety, how to give complaint if we are meeting with any sort of accidents during our work time. Thank you for that.
We had meeting on friday. I learnt about women's protection and about an union for domestic helpers. I liked meeting. Next time i will surely come for meeting.

I am Vijayalakshmi. Under 100days work scheme 70-80 years old lady are working. Its really sad to see them working. I am a domestic helper. Through union we asked for leave, bonus and now we are getting all that. With so much of struggle that old people are working. They all should get a permanent solution for this. Government should do something.

Interviewer: How many members do you have? Selvi: 13 members Interviewer: What work are you doing under this scheme? selvi: Lake cleaning Interviewer: All the members of your group work here or its only you who work? Selvi: 4 of us are working here. Interviewer: Do you work for 100 days? Selvi: Yes.. for 100 days we work. Many people stop in between and there are people with kids, they quit working after 10 days. Interviewer: Nobody is worried at your home for sending you to work at this age? Lakshmi: No they are not worried Interviewer: Why? Lakshmi: They are asking me to take care of my expenses for daily living. Interviewer: Do you think 100 days work scheme is useful to elderly people like you? Lakshmi: I dont work for 100 days. I work for 10days and go. Interviewer: Do you keep that money with you or you give to your grandchildren. Lakshmi: I give it to my son. Interviewer: Hello What is your name. How you manage in this age? Seriyammal: Thats why i am sitting. I am not able to work. I need money for my day to day living. Interviewer: There are no place to take rest here and there are no trees here. How you manage? What time you start you work and afternoon how long you take rest? Seriyammal: Morning 9 O clock we start work and afternoon 2 O clock they leave us. Interviewer: What about salar? Monthly on which date they pay you? Seriyammal: Its weekly basis.
