For school going children and workers working for monthly salary the "Holiday" is such a sweet word. In many countries holidays are nothing but some of the important and exclusive days considered by an Individual, Govt or Institutions. In countries like England, Australia, Canada holiday is a rest day where you are not involved in regular work and education. To talk about America a day to celebrate any festival is called as Holiday. As per India is concerned, a day of off for the reasons like culture, Govt or Political reasons. Ok, lets see what is holiday for workers. As per Industrial act 1948(section 52), first day of work i.e Sunday is a normal Holiday. If a company is not giving holiday on Sunday, the administrator of the company should announce 3 days prior or later as holiday. Main thing, law says without any day of off no worker should work for continues 10 days. A holiday is a 24 hours rest day for their change of shift. If he leaves the work on Saturday evening. till Monday morning being on rest for 24 hours is called as holiday. Law says, if the worker is forced to work continuously without giving Holiday, then the worker can claim for compensation. So rest is important for a worker, holiday is important. If holiday is not given, they can claim for compensation. This is labour right. Not only getting salary for the work done, 8 hours of work should be assured, at the same time weekly off should also be assured. who should assure this? We!! We workers should ask and get our rights.
