I am Kokila from Ayapakkam. I am an Incharge in PTS. Initially, even i was not aware of many things. and even in our area many were like that. We were not aware of the rights of domestic helpers. There was a meeting organized for doemstic helpers in our area. Sanathanamari madam, Vaishnavi madam and Merlin madam conducted the meeting. Initially we were 25 members. Slowly the number increased. They explained about ESI PF and also asked about hourly wages we get. Initially we were hesitant to ask the owners about salary. But after the motivation by PTS members, we started asking to the house owners. In the beginning the owners we thinking about it. Later we pasted the posters on walls and created awareness. Later the owners accepted to give it. Now we have started to voice for our rights, the only reason for this growth is motivation by PTS.
