Dr.Manorama Mohanty, Director of Indian Metrological Department predicted the weather for next 24 hours as well as next seven days.

Ms.Mamata Nayak, Community resident from Aaiginia Bhoi Sahi, Ward 49 shared a local adaptation measure that she and her community taken to reduce the climate vulnerability. As drainge is very closed to her house so she used sand bags infront of the house to avoid waterlogging.

Ms.Rashmita Mohanty, SSC Member from Sriram Nagar, Ward 5 and Ms.Lili Samal from Mahila Samiti Basti of Ward 43 highlighted that they had reached to the households living in the low-lying areas, mobilised them not to be afraid about the Cyclone, in case of waterlogging, then shift to the temporary shelter home. Till now, the situation is under control, and community habitats are safe, but they are following up on them.

Mr.Prabhat Kumar Sahoo, Ms.Tarini Kinner, Ms.Tamana Kinner, Kabir Das, Transman, Ms.Jagyaseni Gouda, Subhadra Das from Ward 5, 22, 23, 42, 49 developed a Podcast to build conciouness on water consumption, rehabilitate to most at risk groups to the temporary shelter home, wastewater discharging from drainge, sewerage line and practice local adptation to reduce climate vulnerability.

Mr Jogendra Dakua, Sanitation Sub-committee Member of Tapovan Lane Basti, Ward 49, broadcast a message stating that we SSC and SDA members stay alert to address waterlogging-related issues because drainage has been constructed partially, and there is a chance of overflowing water. The WaSH Committee distributed roles who will discharge the wastewater in case of overflowing and inform community to shift temporary shelter home at Tapovan School. We have ready to rescue the most at risk groups to the shelter home and arranged foods too.

She shared that the Cyclonic Storm “Montha” [Pronunciation: Mon-Tha] over westcentral Bay of Bengal moved northnorthwestwards with a speed of 15 kmph during past 6 hours, intensified into a severe cyclonic storm and lay centered at 0530 hrs IST of today, the 28th October 2025, over the same region, near latitude 14.7°N & longitude 83.1°E, about 190 km south-southeast of Machilipatnam (Andhra Pradesh), 270 km southsoutheast of Kakinada (Andhra Pradesh), 340 km south-southwest of Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), 550 km south-southwest of Gopalpur (Odisha). It is likely to continue to move north-northwestwards and cross Andhra Pradesh coast between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam around Kakinada during evening/night of today, the 28th October as a severe cyclonic storm with a maximum sustained wind speed of 90-100 kmph gusting to 110 kmph

It is likely to move north-northwestwards and intensify into a severe cyclonic strom by morning of 28th October. Continuing to move futher north-northwestwards, it is very likely to cross Andhra Pradesh coast between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam around Kakinada during the evening/night of 28th October as a severe Cyclonic storm with a maximum sustained wind speed of 90-100 kmph gusting to 110 kmph.

A forecast was published by Dr. Manorama Mohanty, Director of Indian Metrological Department on upcoming Cyclone Montha. The IMD predicted that Cyclone Montha move nearly west-northwestwards,intensify further into a cyclonic storm over southwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal during next 12 hours. Therefore, it is likely to move northwestwards,then northwestwards and intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by morning of 28th October. Continuing to move further north-northwestwards, it is likely to cross Andhra Pradesh coast between Machilipatnam, and Klaingapatnam around Kakinada during evening/night of 28th October as a severe cyclonic storm with a maxmium sustained wind speed of 90-100 kmph gusting to 110 kmph

Ganeswar Bagarty, Sanitary Inspector of Ward 38 said that Debray College will be used as a shelter home for Ward 38 residents. We arranged drinking water provision, toilet facilities, diesel generator and food. Now preparedness is going. Rooms are cleaned. Officials from Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation were also deployed in the shelter home.
