Baijnath Mahto from Dhanbad block of Dhanbad district called up to share with the listeners of JMR the rituals of Makar Sankranti and Tussu festival. He said that the five days have different rituals surrounded,the first day is called "Chardhawa" when the rice is washed and dried in the sun, the second day is called "gurikutta" which means that the dried rice is grinded and several tasty dishes are made out of it. The third day "Boundi" is celebrated by eating cooked fish and meat. Fourth day "Dahichudda" is eaten after taking bath early in the morning. The last day is considered very auspicious for the farmers as they take bath early in the morning and plow their fields and start the sowing season.
