The Central Government has taken a sensitive initiative towards the rights of the disabled. According to this, now there can be a punishment of six months to five years for humiliating, threatening or beating a disabled person. Strict provisions have been made regarding this in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016 published in the Gazette.
