Ms. Meghna Sahoo, Chairperson of the Third Gender Welfare Trust, acknowledged sanitation work as a vital social service and expressed solidarity with BMC, CFAR and Garima for enhancing safety of core sanitation workers. In this context, she highlighted the role of sexual and gender minorities in fecal sludge treatment plants, aiming to join forces with the core sanitation workers and together dismantling social stigma against the work in more ways than one.
Ganeswar Bagarty, Sanitary Inspector of Ward 38 said that Debray College will be used as a shelter home for Ward 38 residents. We arranged drinking water provision, toilet facilities, diesel generator and food. Now preparedness is going. Rooms are cleaned. Officials from Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation were also deployed in the shelter home.
P.Hritik Roshan Sanitary inspector of ward 42 said that we have arranged two shelter homes Gopabandhu Leprosy Colony Community Centre and Budheswari Colony Community Centre. We have arranged a Diesel Generator set, water service, toilet provision, and cooked foods. Around 300 to 400 people will be rehabilited in this Community Centre. Meals will be served twice a day. Officials from Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, Civil society, Organizations, agencies and volunteers are deployed to handle and monitor the shelter home.

Kamanibala Sarangi, elder representative, Munda Sahi, Ward 38, highlighted that during the cyclone, electricity might be cut off, and supply water may not be released. So, I have safely stored water in my house because I have persons with disabilities and elderly members in my life. Let us be united and reduce the impact of Cyclone DANA.
Diptirani Pradhan, SDA member of Chala Sahi, Ward 49 recorded her feedback in IVRS that she elevated the entrance of her house to prevent water logging during the cyclone and taking ownership to rescue the elderly persons to safe shelter home.
