Dear Listeners, Our Janhit vanni happy to share with you about the role and responsibilities of JCs & MCs committee under ICDSs Dear listener for sharing in details present with us Minakhi Pattnayak , Supervisor ICDS Mamata Singh : Maam welcome to Janhit and Namaksar Supervisor: Namaskar and Thanks for inviting me in Janhit vanni platforms Pravasini Nayak : Our listeners waiting to know from you about the Role and Responsibilities of JC and MCs Supervisor: Before sharing about the R&R I would like to share here about the ICDSs in briefly Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) is a government program in India which provides nutritional meals, preschool education, primary healthcare, immunization, health check-up and referral services to children under 6 years of age and their mothers. This program launched in 1975 . For better implementation 6 services under ICDSs , JCs& MCs committee formulated and given prime responsibilities which I am going explaining The Committee will Visit each AWC (primary and upper primary school) in the slum or villages areas on a random basis at least once a week and check the quality and quantity of food being served. They will do surprise visits during working hours in the pre primary schools (at least twice or thrice) to check the cleanliness measures followed while cooking, serving and eating the meal. (Hand washing of children etc) They will present at the time of receipt of Take Home Ration (THR) and its distribution to the Beneficiaries. They Visit at least one household per week to ensure that THR was received and is being consumed as per the required norm. They will check whether the food items purchased to prepare hot cooked meals and morning snacks are packed properly and from high quality brands. They will check the quality of food but by tasting only a very small portion. The members should not ask for and should under no circumstances be served a full meal during their visit. They will look into maintaining a register to record the remarks of the Jaanch committee on the day of their visit. (This should be cross checked by the headmaster and by visiting officials). They will present at the monthly meetings organized by Anganwadi workers. The Jaanch Committee should not indulge so much in fault finding of individual functionaries as in ensuring that feeding programmers are run properly. In case some local issues come to the notice of the Jaanch Committee, they should be resolved by them at that place itself and recorded in the register. In case it cannot be resolved by them, it should be brought to the notice of the President of the Jaanch Committee. As a last resort .
