We all know that March 8 is Women's day. So this entire March month we are going to meet and talk to women who have achieved and achieving in life. We have Semmalar union's Joint Secretary Ms. Ramalakshmi. Here we have her. Ramalakshmi: I am Joint Secretary in Semmalar union. My name is Ramalakshmi. I am from Sivaasi taluk. Leone: We have asked her to talk about How she joined this union and involved herself in social work despite of being a normal village girl who have finished her schooling. Ramalakshmi: I have joined this union to do social work for people. While working i have helped many to get benefit funds, welfare board card. I have capacity to bring legal work officers who are in C3 court. I can even take people to Taluk office if there is any change in their Adhar card. I can write petition and take people for that. I know to go to collectorate. Since i am in a position in union, I know everything. I go and meet people and make them participate in gram sabha meeting. I am Vembakottai, i attended the gram sabha meeting and gave petition. As a result of it, we have got street lights. Leone: In this era where people are focused on them and their family, You spoke very well about hoe you managed to do social work. Please tell us what is your opinion about women rights. Ramalakshmi: Once men were given the importance. we feel that the importance given to men, the same importance should be given to women. Leone: Thaks to Ramalakshmi for shared her view.
