Grievance: We were in Ayanavaram. Now we have been given house at Perumbakkam. In perumbakkam we dont have any facilities. There is no light facility, water is not supplied properly, electricity was not provided but recently they have provided the electric facility. We stay in Block number 65. Here we dont have light facility. Reply: Helen from Perumbakkam spoke that there is no facility like light, safety for women and no job. Perumbakkam is a resettlement area. Even in areas like Navalur, Kudapakkam basic facilities are lacking. All these areas come under resettlement area. In the area where you live resettlement area office will be there. All of you sign and give a petition. Head office for the same is in Chennai. Give petition in registered post. Even after that if they are not taking any steps then we can approach from PTS. Success story: I was living in Maduravoil. Our house was demolished and they brought us to Perumbakkam. When they brought us here, there was no water facility, no light facility, no police safety, no hospital, no bus facility, School children suffered alot. After telling about all these, PTS called and asked where do I live. I told we live in 158, Perumbakkam. they came and inquired with us. We told about the lack of facility. We cried to them saying we are suffering alot with kids in midst of mosquito problem. Then I asked in a meeting. Immediate next day 20 people came and inquired and gave us all the facilities. Thank to them.
Kani: We have Selvi sis with us who was resettled in Koodapakkam from Maduravoil. Come lets talk to her. Hello sis. Selvi: Hello madam. Kani: Sis, what work were you doing when you were in Maduravoil? Selvi: I was a domestic helper. K: What was your husband working as? How many kids do you have? S: I have 1 daughter and 1 son. Daughter has finished her B.com and son has finished his engineering. My husband was working as a watchman. He was earning Rs.9000. K: What was your sate of mind while going to Koodapakkam from Maduravoil. S: I was restless and didnt knew what to do. We were used to this place. After going there, till one month we struggled now things are settled to some extent. But if we have to go for work, we have to pay so much for Bus fare. Many are not able to work due to physical strain and pain. They have run from here and stand to work there. That is the main problem now. People who are more than 40 years are not getting work, Only people with 30-35 years are getting jobs. There are no flats for domestic help. We have to cross Poonnmallee to get domestic helper job. What can we do tell me? 3 months I dint go for work, due to my health issue and leg pain. K: Are you coming to Maduravoil for domestic helper work? S: I am coming to Madurvoil as well i am doing in Ponnamallee. But they are hesitant to appoint and asking will you be able to come at this time. Dont know what to do. K: Hope you have seen the demand letter we drafted during election season. We have asked for a free bus pass for domestic helper. Have you seen that? S: I am not aware. But it will be really great if it happens. If we have Rs.3000 salary, we are spending Rs.1000 for bus fare. How can we survive. If you could give free bus pass, it will be helpful
My name is Pachhayamma. I was in Maduravoil. They have resettled us in Perumbakkam. Then PTS came and inquired about our needs. We told them that we don't have work opportunity here, we are suffering alot here because of the mosquito problem. Then I spoke in the meeting and told them that we dont have bus facility, no school facility, no hospital facility, no water facility, no street lights, and no police security. My name is Palani. I am from Ayapakkam. Its been 3 years that i live in that area. Earlier we ere in thiruvallur. here we were in a rented house. When i was injured i came to my sister's place because i was unable to pay the rent. Then we went and gave a request letter to alot a house in housing board. They kept telling us that they will allot the house. But even after 2 and half year they didnt allot the house. Later one person came and took my thumb print and other details and he assured that i will get a house. But later there was no news from their end. When i went and enquired they said, my request got cancelled. I went to head office and begged chairman to help me. He recommended for me and called MD and said he is a blind person and struggling alot. After his recommendation, they said you have been allotted a house but now it has been cancelled. Again he called and spoke to MD. MD secretory saw it and scolded the authorities for not giving the allotted house. Later we met MD and they gave the house in koodapakkam. But the house was in interior. But what else to do. Its better to have something than having nothing.
