In the name of resettlement many people from Chennai have been sent out of their place where they lived their life. They are dumped in Perumbakkam, koodapakkam. I, Sumathi and Dhanalakshmi went to that area and saw the place. If there is any accident in that place, there is no way to escape. The buildings look like old house, it doesn't look like a newly built house. Secondly, flooring is not properly finished. Drainage is not cleaned, drinking water tank is not cleaned. Same way wastewater is entering the drinking water pipeline. There is no electricity and light facility. Old people and pregnant women are climbing 5th and 6th floor. No proper drinking water facility. There are street light poles but there is no lights fixed. After 6pm there is pitch darkness in that area. its Crime prone area. Especially for young girls, there need safety measures. On this issue, PTS spoke during the meeting which Happened in Asha Nivas, it was exclusively for problems faced in the resettlement area. After this, 3rd day 20 officilas visited the place for inspection. when we ent again there, we witnessed another horrible incident. That is, thousands of people were dumped here from Ambattur and Kallikuppam area. Those people protested saying they ill nit evict the place. Just because they protested, they were not given any facilities. Usually Govt gives Rs.5000 to shift the luggage. It is given at all places. but these people are not given this facility. Not only that, they were promised to give Rs.2500 but they dint get that money too. Aniother person from that area, the house was in his wife's name, she was admitted in hospital so shedidnt come to sign the document. SO he didnt get the house. Now what they did was they are living in an empty house which is in Chemmanchery koodapakam area. Its been 2 months till now they have not given the house. People are living in this situation. Next problem is Mosquitoes. Govt is working to clean out the dengue mosquitoes. That area is full of mosquitoes. People are forced to lock themselves inside the house due to the mosquito problem. People are facing problem due to the transport issue, people doesn't know what work should they do. No proper medical facility. They are suffering without all these basic things. Govt should consider this.
I am Sumathi from PTS. This Tuesday there is a camp organized in Kanchipuram Chengalpet. So those who are supposed to register newly, or renew the old one can come on Tuesday and take the benefit of the camp. The camp is happening on 11th December from 10am to 5pm at Welfare office.,

They just demolished our house and brought us here. We didnt get any amount other than Rs.8000 which we received at the time of arrival to this place. The tank is not washed. We are drinking water which comes from that tank. There is no light facility, bus facility, hospital facility, there is a cemetery nearby and because of the smell, children are falling sick. Daily we are seeing dead bodies. Govt hospitals are 4-5 miles away from this place. There is no job opportunity here, how can we survive here? Even the trash is not cleaned by Govt authorities. No proper medicines are sprayed for mosquitoes. Even if we get a job which pays Rs.2000 we can go and work but even that is not available. We are not getting money from anyone. What can we do? Palani: What work you were doing when you were in Maduravoil? Person: I was a domestic helper. Palani: What work are you doing here? Person: I am not going for work. My daughter goes for work and i am taking care of kids. Those kids are studying in Govt school. Even in that school, they are not given even Rs.10 too. PAlani: In which Govt school is she studying? Person: The one near Chemmanchery - Perumbakkam Police booth. It is a small room and there is no place. Students are sitting on each others lap. Even for 4and 5th std students they are dumped in a godown like school. How can we take care of our kids if we dont have job. Daily to pick and drop the kids i have to go and daily i am paying Rs.20 for auto. There is not even a van for that.
