In India from 1961 the maternity act is existing. The act was amended in 2017 so that the workers should get more benefits and it has been called as Maternity Amendment Act 2017. With this amendment act the maternity leave was extended from 12 weeks to 26 weeks. This act is applicable in all the companies where 10 or more women are working and it gives the privilege of taking paid leave for 26 weeks for the first 2 kids. If they have more than 2 kids, they can take 12 weeks leave. Under this new amendment, if there are 50 women working in a company, they should set up a daycare near to the company. And the company should allow the worker to see the child 4 times in a day. As per this new amendment act India takes 3 rd place in giving Maternity leaves. Canada take 1st place by giving 50 weeks leave and Norway takes 2nd place by giving 44weeks leave.,
